I'm Calling You To Rest In Me
Sometimes, without saying a word, God only wants to hold us. Let Him hold you today.
Years ago, my ministry almost destroyed me. I fell in love with it more than the Lord.
Our ministries, if we are not careful, can be our number one enemy! It happens so innocently, for we love what God has called us to do.
Is It Your Ministry Or God's?
The Lord began to hinder my ministry to get me back to Him by closing doors and locking the windows. Invitations stopped, and I found myself alone with my family and God. For three months, I was shut in with God and He miraculously met our needs. I discovered if you slow down and spend time with Him, you won't lose your ministry, unless it was yours. If it's God's ministry, it will continue without you.
During this time, I saw my ministry take off like never before. All I did was spend time with Him. One day as I felt His loving arms around me, I sensed He was delighted to have me be with Him, without doing anything for Him. He was thrilled with my presence, and I discovered that we were created to be with Him on earth, not only in heaven.
On this sabbatical, there was a moment when I heard Him whisper to the angels, "Take this son's ministry and take it to the four corners of the earth, for he is thrilling Me!" I believe there are times when we should stop what we are doing long enough to find out if God is still calling us in the same direction that He did years ago.
He said, "Son, as you rest in Me, you will reap where you have not sown." Maybe He is calling you also to take a break so you don't fall apart.
And don't worry, if you take a break, the earth will keep right on turning. It was turning before you arrived here, and will continue after you are gone.
"For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength." Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)
