The Eye Of A Needle
Update On Our Move:
"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through
the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24 (NIV).
I believe the word "rich" here means too much of anything that can hinder our walk with the Lord.
We are now in our new home thanks to an army of brothers and sisters from our church who moved us. Our two-car garage is filled with boxes and things that can't fit in our new, smaller home. Surprise! We realize we
need to downsize even more. I believe the Lord is taking Dagmar and me through "the eye of a needle." The Holy Spirit is showing us how to travel light and discover Him in a way we have not known. I keep hearing the Lord saying, "That won't fit in your life anymore." I'm convinced "the eye of a needle" is the answer to our prayers for more of Him and less of us--and even less of our stuff.
Even my prayer life is being downsized. Again, less of me and
more of Him. I like to say this simple sentence, "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening." 1 Samuel 3:10 (NIV). My favorite prayer has become, "Help, Lord!"
Downsizing means greater dependence on Him. And isn't this what we all really need?
***** Our old house is on the market this week. Please pray for a fair selling price. It would be great if it were a cash offer. We are
sensing there may be a young couple who is praying for a place to live like we were when we found it. I am believing the presence of the Lord in this house will be sensed by everyone who walks through it, and His presence will sell it.
** Travel ministry will resume soon. Having two houses at the same time has taken us longer to deal with than we thought. Boxes to unpack at the new home while cleaning an empty house and preparing it for sale has kept
us busy.
