You Can't Take Everything With You On This Move

We knew we had to downsize to a one-level house. We now know the meaning of the word downsize: "You can't take everything with you or everything you have known." Downsize means downsize! I sense this is what God is up to in all of us in the natural as well as the spiritual. 1 Corinthians 15:46 (NIV). "The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual."

We measured our furniture and prayed it would fit in the smaller rooms of our new smaller home. Since the new house is now empty, we took a tape measure to measure the furniture with the size of the rooms. I sensed the Lord saying as we did, "I am measuring My people to fit into My Kingdom, not theirs. They must decrease that I may increase. I'm downsizing for an uprising of My Spirit within My people, and I have a plan to help them." He didn't give me any details on His plan, but so far I believe it's, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

Downsizing is difficult. It requires decisions, sacrifice and tossing out things that we wonder if we'll need later. Dagmar and I have been doing this a lot. Thankfully, our partner has been the Holy Spirit. He gives great advice and we've leaned on Him heavily. Our ears are open to hear His voice. 

Update On Our Move:

We closed on our new home on April 30th. We were blessed to meet the owners at the signing... a wonderful young couple expecting their first child. We had the opportunity to pray for them and bless them as they continue on their journey. 

The inside of our new home is now being painted. Our moving date is on Saturday, May11th. At present we own both homes. We are praying our present home can be ready to go on the market soon. Thank you for your prayers and your generous support.
